The Makassed Library is one of the institutions owned and financed by the Makassed Philanthropic and Islamic Association in Beirut (established 1878). It comprises a total of some 100.000 books and a manuscripts collection of 512 manuscripts dating from the 17th,18th and 19th centuries. Many of these manuscripts are unique and of exceptional value. The vast majority of the books deal with Islamic thought.
